2009 was not a great year for me, but I took it in stride as I do most things. When I got the opportunity to attend the 2010 Grammy Awards this past January, I jumped on it. Along with my two very best friends, I jumped on a plane to LA for the weekend of a lifetime. I was ascheduled to be a VIP seat-filler since I knew someone, who knew someone, who knew someone (and you know how that goes). I was told not to expect to sit next to anyone famous for very long since at every commercial break the staff moves you around depending on which stars are presenting or performing. About 5 minutes before the show was to air LIVE, they walked me up towards the front and said “take any empty seat you want”. Instantly I spotted an empty seat in the very FRONT ROW and I snagged it! As I started to look around I realized that seated next to me were Santana and Steve Colbert! Then, trying to stay cool, I looked casually behind me and saw Harry Connick Jr., his wife Jill Goodacker, and all 3 of the Jonas Brothers! Now, I have a 9 year old daughter so I appreciate the excitement in this seating arrangement I have lucked upon. I expected to be moved very quickly since this seat was too good to be true, but the show went on and on and on and I never moved an inch. The performances were incredible, (especially Pink and the Black Eyed Peas), and I actually chatted it up with Santana and Steve Colbert a little bit. Very nice guys by the way.
